Sylvania Cycling Classic Comes to Sylvania

The Maumee Valley Wheelmen, in cooperation with the City of Sylvania and the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce announces the inaugural Sylvania Cycling Classic, presented by Yark Auto.com on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Burnham Park, 6940 Maplewood, Sylvania, Ohio.

The event will welcome riders in several categories for the .7 mile criterium and is expected to payout $8300.00 in prize money. The first place Men Pro-Cat 1-2 will have a $1000 award. The event will also feature kids’ cycle racing, kid’s activities, refreshments and entertainment. Plummer Pool will be open for the racers and their immediate families.

Registration can be done online at www.TrueSport.com or on the day of the race but a $10.00 additional charge for day of race registration applies. Sponsors for the event are Shumaker, Loop & Kendick LLP, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Kingston Healthcare Company, Dave’s Running, Regan Insurance, Grange Insurance, Jack’s Bicycles, Perrysburg Eye Center, Bike Works, The Bike Shop, Wersells Bike and Ski Shop, OmniSource, Wells Fargo Advisors, Hantz Group and Clif Bar and Company and WRQN 93.5.

Jon Card from the Maumee Valley Wheelmen states “cycling is a wonderful form of recreation and an event that encourages family participation through exercise while also aiding to correct many of the health care issues we face today. Additionally, it is truly an enjoyable sport and the more interest we can bring to the activity will help give rise to a new generation of cycling enthusiasts.”
