The Ritz Teen Thespian Guild (RTTG) will hold open auditions for Arthur Miller’s Tony-award winning drama, The Crucible on the main stage of The Ritz Theatre on Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27 from 4:30 to 7:00. The performances will be stages at The Ritz Theatre November 11-13.

RTTG is open to any area students in grades 9-12. Auditions will consist of reading from the script. Students wishing to work backstage are asked to attend auditions and sign up for construction, painting, props, lights or sound. The Crucible will be directed by Michael Strong who can be contacted at 419.448.8544 x14 or for additional information.

The Crucible is a taut, gripping examination of the witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. However, the playwright illuminates themes of bigotry, persecution, public hysteria and the individual struggle with right and wrong which were mirrored in his time by McCarthyism. In addition to the history lesson, students will participate in character development and story-telling.
