Living Well on Less Series

(Released on January 30, 2012) – In observance of America Saves Week (February 19-26) and Money Smart Week (April 21-28), the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library is pleased to offer Living Well on Less: New and Old Ways to Make EXTRA Money, a FREE series designed to provide adults with information on starting a business on e-Bay, opportunities to work at home, saving money, home ownership and more!

America Saves Week is a campaign coordinated by the non-profit Consumer Federation of America (CFA) and is dedicated to helping individuals save money, reduce debt, and build wealth. Money Smart Week is a series of free classes and activities nationwide designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances.

If you’re having a hard time stretching your budget, or just want to find creative ways to make some extra money, our Living Well on Less series is designed just for you:

· Saving for a Better Day – (noon-4:15 p.m.) on Saturday, February 18 @ McMaster Center/Main Library, 325 Michigan St.
a) Noon-12:30 p.m. – BankOn Toledo (Start a bank account)
b) 12:40-1:40 p.m. – Panel discussion on business savings will be videoconferenced to Heatherdowns Branch Library, 3265 Glanzman Rd.
c) 2-3 p.m. – Create Your Own Saving Plan
d) 3:15-4:15 p.m. – Saving on Your Energy Bills

· Saving for a Better Day – (12:30-4 p.m.) on Saturday, February 18 @ Heatherdowns Branch Library, 3265 Glanzman Rd.
a) 12:40-1:40 p.m. – Panel discussion on business savings at Main Library location will be videoconferenced to Heatherdowns Branch
b) 2-4 p.m. – Learn How to Start a Business on eBay with eBay expert Becky Locke-Gagnon

· Manage your Small Business – (10a.m. – 1 p.m.) on Saturday, February 25 @ Kent Branch Library @CCESS Center, 3101 Collingwood Blvd.
a) Learn How to Manage your Small Business Finances with Charlene Paige

· Budget and Food Skills Workshop – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 @ Point Place Branch Library, 2727-117th St.
a) Special guest Darla Jaros, author of The Kitchen Assistant, will spill her secrets of saving time and money in the kitchen with her hour-long workshop for money saving techniques.

· Monday, April 23 (In observance of Money Smart Week)
a) (6-8 p.m.) – Find Great Programs to Buy a Home @ McMaster Center, Main Library, 325 Michigan St. (Great opportunities in home ownership)
b) (6:30 -8 p.m.) – Learn about Working at Home @ Heatherdowns Branch Library, 3265 Glanzman Rd. (A panel of experts will tell you what to be of aware of when looking for jobs at home. Hear from the following experts – a home-business owner, the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, Better Business Bureau, Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and Advocates for Basic Legal Equality)
As part of these observances, the Library wants to encourage patrons to go to their nearest neighborhood branch and fill out a form listing five ways to start saving money. Be among the first 20 to fill out the form and receive a prize from our program sponsors. Fill out a form between February 18-26 and your form will be entered for a GRAND PRIZE from our sponsors that will be announced Thursday, March 8.
