March 27, 2012 – Toledo, OH – Central City Ministry of Toledo (CCMT) is pleased to welcome Coach Bob Hurley as its keynote speaker for the 2012 Urban All-American Celebration (UAA) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 at the Pinnacle. The event is a fundraiser for Rosary Cathedral and Queen of Apostles schools.
Bob Hurley has led St. Anthony High School to 27 state championships, 1,000 wins and four national titles in the past 39 years as head coach, despite substandard facilities and financial limitations. St. Anthony is located in an impoverished inner city neighborhood in Jersey City, NJ. Coach Hurley has mentored over 150 players who have accepted college scholarships and five of his athletes have played in the NBA. In 2010, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, only the third high school coach in history to be so honored. Bob Hurley is driven by motivation to change the lives of these young men and has regularly turned down more lucrative college coaching offers to continue his work at St. Anthony.
A documentary capturing life as a player under Bob Hurley is currently being aired on ESPN and last year he was featured on 60 Minutes: “Bob Hurley, the Sage of St. Anthony.”

Central City Ministry of Toledo operates two Catholic elementary campuses, Rosary Cathedral on Collingwood in the Old West End and Queen of Apostles off Broadway in the Historic Old South End. CCMT provides a life-lasting, faith-based education to 420 children, many of whom are considered “at risk.” The CCMT campuses provide clear goals and expectations, strict discipline, and strong academics in a safe and secure environment.
The major sponsor for the Urban All-American Celebration is Mercy. Tickets are $100.00, and sponsorship tables are still available. Proceeds from the event will be used to provide tuition assistance to CCMT students. For reservation information, contact Deb Marinelli, CCMT Event Coordinator, at 419-244-6711, ext. 213 or dmarinelli@toledodiocese.org.
