Are you looking for a fun, rewarding experience that directly helps the Toledo Area Humane Society save more lives? Have you ever thought about temporarily opening up your home to a litter of cute little kittens or a pup in need of some extra TLC before they find their forever loving home? Then you’re in luck! The Toledo Area Humane Society has a Foster Orientation this Saturday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. for those interested in becoming a foster volunteer for TAHS.

Each year, the Toledo Area Humane Society can save even more lives thanks to the generosity of foster volunteers who open up their homes and their hearts to temporarily care for animals that aren’t able to go up for adoption right away. Three common reasons that animals need to go into foster care include: 1) kittens and puppies too young to be spayed/neutered and to be adopted; 2) cats or dogs who are nursing their litters and need a home environment where they can all receive proper socialization; and 3) animals that are being treated for an illness or injury and need some extra special attention, regular medication and lots of TLC!

The Toledo Area Humane Society provides foster volunteers with all of the supplies and veterinary care needed for their foster animals. Some animals may only need fostering for a few days while others may need extended care. Fostering animals can be a very rewarding experience, knowing that you helped save a life. Spring is a busy time of the year for the Humane Society and they are already receiving several litters of kittens each week that are too young to go up for adoption and need to go into foster care. Because of their foster volunteers, TAHS is able to take in these young animals and place them in foster homes so they can find loving homes once they’re old enough.

If you are interested in becoming a foster volunteer, please come to the orientation session on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. During this session, you can ask questions and learn all about fostering for TAHS. You can also contact the TAHS Foster Volunteer Coordinator at foster@toledoareahumanesociety.org or at 419-891-0705.

The Toledo Area Humane Society is open Tuesday through Friday from 11am – 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 6pm. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization they are committed to the welfare of animals by providing temporary shelter and care while seeking permanent homes. Donations from local individuals, corporations and monies generated by fundraisers and earned revenue are a major source of funding for the Toledo Area Humane Society.
