Last Saturday, Lourdes Franciscan Theatre & Conference center was glowing with the more than 500 guests who came out to celebrate higher education and raise funds for student scholarships. Honorary Chair Jim Findlay and Lourdes President Bob Helmer and wife Linda welcomed guests as they arrived.

The sounds of the Maxx Band and lighted floral centerpieces by Bartz Viviano created a wonderful ambiance inside the Franciscan Center, as guests enjoyed a silent auction and an array of hors d’oeuvres from Michaels. Broadway’s Timothy Shew performed selections from musicals Man of La Mancha, The Music Man, The Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story. Todd Schreiber served as accompanist. The Toledo Ballet, Opera and Symphony Jazz Trio also performed.

Lourdes alumna Chrys Peterson served as Mistress of Ceremonies and Gray Wolves Assistant Baseball coach Tim Berta spoke to the audience about his experience as a Lourdes student – sharing how being a part of the Lourdes community has given him new hope for his future and how his sister has also benefitted from a Lourdes nursing education. ?
“Thanks to the generosity of the Lourdes Community, I am now able to pursue my academic goals while remaining close to a game I adore,” shared Tim. “After my terrible injuries and test results, to speak in baseball terms, Lourdes stepped up to the plate and smashed a game-winning Grand Slam.
Lourdes University really is an incredible place!”

Platinum sponsors Franciscan Services Corporation [CEO Jim Pope] and Muir Graphics [Karen Gardner] where recognized and thanked for their generous support.
