Masterworks Chorale wraps up its 40th season at 8 p.m. June 2 with “Collage V” at the Valentine Theatre. The collage format offers unusual juxtapositions of performance media in two seamless acts.

Featured this year is Daniel Pinkham’s “In the Beginning of Creation” for chorus and electronic recording, an Islamic chant sung in Urdu, Gioachino Rossini’s “Duet for Two Cats” and “Make Our Garden Grown,” the finale of Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide.”

This year, the Chorale will share the “Collage V” stage with singers Brad Cresswell of WGTE and Jenny Cresswell of the Toledo Opera, dancers from the Ballet Theatre of Toledo and the very first “Masterworks Idols.”

The Masterworks Idol program is an innovative way for the Chorale to provide young, classically trained singers a chance to perform. Like Masterworks’ long running intern program, the new “Idol” program is intended to foster an interest in choral and vocal music.

Finalists will perform for the Chorale on May 14 and Masterworks members will choose the winner. Winners will perform with Masterworks during “College V” and receive $150.

Tickets for “Collage V” are $35 for box seats, $30 for “A” level, $25 for “B” level, $20 for “C” level and $12 for students. Call 419-242-2787 to order. Tickets also will be available at the door.?
Auditions for next year’s interns and chorale members will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. May 22 and 24 in the Ottawa Hills High School choir room. To learn more, or to make an appointment to audition, call 419-242-0800.
