Black & White Transportation, a company known for taking safety seriously, is entering into a partnership with the Toledo Police Department through a new program aimed at helping to keep our streets and neighborhoods safe.

The Transportation on Patrol (TOP) partnership is a road hazard, anti-crime and emergency reporting program that allows drivers to serve as additional eyes and ears for law enforcement agencies as they move about the city. In collaboration with Toledo Police, Black & White drivers will complete the rigorous TOP training program where they will be given the necessary skills to simultaneously perform their duties while serving as mobile observers for civil safety issues such as necessary road repairs, crime and emergency situations. Drivers will report things like missing stop signs, automobile accidents, medical emergencies, suspicious activity, fires and impaired drivers to law enforcement – all in an effort to keep Toledo’s streets safe.

It’s the only partnerships of its kind in the region. The media is invited to attend a news conference on Thursday, May 24 at 2 p.m., at Black & White Transportation’s new location at 4665 West Bancroft Street (between Talmadge and Reynolds) to hear representatives from Black & White Transportation and the Toledo Police Department detail how the TOP program will operate.

Following the news conference, from 3-7 p.m., Black & White Transportation will host an open house to showcase the new offices and all the state-of-the-art technologies all under one roof. The centrally located address provides the quickest possible response time to all areas of the city. In addition to serving as a hub for its vehicle fleet, the new building also houses central dispatch and administrative offices.
