Broadway Bards Features Toledo Native Bob Phillips

On Saturday, July 21st at 6 PM, well-known local author and poet, Bob Phillips, will be the Featured Reader at this month’s Broadway Bards Open Mic at the Original Sub Shop, located at 402 South Broadway in Toledo.

Bob Phillips was born and raised in Toledo and has lived there for most of his life. High school, Navy, lots of jobs, never owned a new car. He’s strong for Toledo as it’s always been his psychic home. He’d go crazy if he couldn’t write poems and go fishing once in awhile. Currently resides on the East Side and he likes it. Gets something published very infrequently and has a few out-of-print chapbooks. He is back on the road after having to replace two rotted brake lines on the old Buick with the help and kindness of neighbors.

Broadway Bards Poetry Group meets every third Saturday of the month at The Original Sub Shop. Bob’s half-hour reading will be followed by an open mic segment, where musicians, poets, and spoken word artists of all genres and levels of experience are given five minutes on the mic to use however they choose.

For more information on this event or how to become a part of this local literary guild, you may contact Hod Doering, the group’s curator and founder, at imhod@roadrunner.com. We look forward to seeing you there.
