Age has its benefits. With Tuesday free admission and special events, Senior Discovery Days let you explore the Toledo Zoo and see it in a whole new way.

Each Tuesday (September 4, 11, 18 and 25, along with October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30) brings a new adventure at the Zoo, from guided tours of Works Progress Administration (WPA)-era buildings to bingo and big band music. In addition to these Tuesday events, each weekday offers free parking in the Anthony Wayne Trail lot, free fresh-brewed coffee and a mini-muffin in the Zoo’s North Star Trading Post®, and more.

And don’t miss Senior Safari on Tuesday, September 18. The Toledo Zoo and the Area Office of Aging present this day of fun focused on seniors, including health screenings, exercise, safety tips and all the exploration the Zoo has to offer. Lunch will be provided in the Nairobi Pavilion; tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the Area Office on Aging at 419.382.0624.

Tours of WPA-era buildings, including the Museum of Science, Aviary and Reptile House, begin at 11 a.m. and last 30 to 60 minutes. To reserve your spot on a specific tour, call 419.385.5721, ext. 2110. For more information and a schedule of all the activities, visit the Zoo’s website at toledozoo.org/seniors.

In September and October, the Toledo Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends in September) and is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo. For more information, please visit toledozoo.org or call 419.385.4040. Lucas County residents are admitted free of charge each Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. ID showing proof of residency is required.

The Toledo Zoo is committed to inspiring others to join in caring for animals and conserving the natural world. As part of that mission, The Toledo Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), a leader in global wildlife conservation. AZA member institutions are dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for visitors and a better future for all living things.
