Grandparents Day and Day of Honor at Toledo Zoo

On Sunday, September 9, the Toledo Zoo celebrates two remarkable events: Grandparents Day and Day of Honor.

September 9 is Grandparents Day. To recognize these grandest of parents, the Toledo Zoo gives free admission to grandparents – as long as they are accompanied by at least one adorable grandchild. Fun activities in Nature’s Neighborhood, the award-winning children’s zoo, round out the celebrations, and these activities are free with admission.

September 9 is also Day of Honor, with the Zoo showing appreciation to those who keep us safe. All military personnel, police officers, firefighters and EMTs get free Zoo admission on this day, when they show their badge or professional ID. But this is just the start – enjoy an official presentation of the colors, sign some giant thank-you cards for your community’s First Responders, and check out some cool vehicles, too! The Day of Honor is presented by Mercy Health Partners and Zoro Tools.
