The Lourdes University Drama Society opens its 2012-13 season with David Auburn’s Proof on Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, September 30 at 2 p.m. Keith Ramsdell, Society Advisor, directs this award-winning drama that has become an international hit and a major motion picture.
“We’re excited to bring the winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play to the Lourdes’ stage,” shares Keith. “This humorous and compassionate story is the perfect kickoff for what promises to be an amazing season of theatre on our campus.”
The play focuses on Catherine, a troubled young woman who has spent years caring for her father, a brilliant but unstable mathematician. Following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions, the arrival of her estranged sister, and the attentions of her father’s former student. A burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father’s madness – or genius – will she inherit?
