National Pit Bull Awareness Day

Posted Oct 16th, 2012 by Jean Keating  Category: Arts & Entertainment

This coming Saturday, October 20th, the Lucas County Pit Crew will celebrate National Pit Bull Awareness Day from 12 to 3 at the Spring Meadows Plaza on Airport Highway, outside in front of PetSmart.

Kirby (puppy who was shot twice in the chest and left for dead) will make his first public appearance since recovering from the gun shot wounds and having his leg amputated. We are anticipating he will be formally adopted sometime between 2 and 2:30.

There will be a free rabies clinic from 12 to 1 in partnership with Humane Ohio, followed by a moment of silence to honor the contribution of the late, Dr. Kelly Rada, to our rescue and the community. Our annual costume contest begins at 1:30. There will be plenty of food, adoptable dogs, and fun. This event is free to the public and all breeds of dogs are welcome to join in the fun.
