On the heels of her runner-up status on American Idol, Bowersox sold out back to back shows in May 2011 at the Valentine Theatre. Her return home for the upcoming March 3rd concert promises to be just as well-received. The 7:30pm concert with Monte Mar at the SeaGate Center is part of an upcoming tour taking Bowersox from Connecticut to California.
Ticket sales begin at 10am on Wednesday, February 13th and are available through the Huntington Center Box Office Monday through Friday 10am to 5:30pm, by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 and at www.ticketmaster.com; all seats reserved at $37. Humble beginnings and passion for music have driven the 25-year old Crystal Bowersox to become one of the most recognized young voices and up and coming singer/songwriters in America. An emotive folk-rock-country style has been catapulted from the cramped coffeehouses and cavernous subway tunnels of Chicago to millions of homes across America when she placed second in Season 9 of Idol.
“One of the first comments Simon made to me was ‘You don’t look like this is something you would do.’ But life is about survival, and you want to be able to give your children the world,” says Crystal. The show helped catapult her from obscurity to fame overnight, and though Crystal is grateful for the exposure, she’s more focused now on what she gained from the competition as an artist and performer. “I’ve always known what kind of artist I am,” the former TSA student says. “But I now know what I’m capable of.”
Bowersox’s debut album Farmer’s Daughter was released December 14, 2010 to critical acclaim. Since then the young songstress has graced the stage at the Grand Ole Opry with Vince Gill, has had John Popper join her onstage at South By Southwest and was invited to the Tin Pan South songwriter’s festival, where Nashville’s most successful showcase their talents.
