You know summer has arrived when music can be enjoyed outdoors. With the warm weather, a variety of venues spring to life, and in Toledo, June 5 was the starting date of the Brown Bag Summer Concert Series at the Main Library.

The free eight-week concert series goes through July 24 and takes place during lunchtime from 12:15 to 1:15 pm on the North Lawn of the Toledo-Lucas County Main Library located at 352 Michigan Street. Attending an outdoor concert is sure to be a nice mid-day break for everyone in the area!

A quick review of the lineup for this year’s Brown Bag Summer Concert Series reveals that the event showcases musical groups of a remarkably wide-ranging nature. You can experience a number of different musical styles. Since the concerts are free, it’s a great opportunity to discover new sounds and expand your musical horizons with friends or co-workers.

During the Brown Bag Summer Concert Series, eight different musical acts will perform over the course of the eight Wednesdays. The scheduled acts for the 2013 Brown Bag Concert Series are:

June 12 – Ballet Folklorico Imagenes Mexicanas, who work to promote the tradition of Mexican folk dance

June 19 – Alternative/Acoustic Captain Sweet Shoes, a duo formed in 2011 by Anthony Beck and Allen Spencer

June 26 – Just Kiddin’ Around with Elisa and Chuck Hage, a children’s program

July 3 – Jeff Tucker and On the Beach, presenting an Adult Alternative music style

July 10 – Country band Rodney Parker and Liberty Beach that, since 2006, have mixed hard-rockin’ new country tunes with old time classics

July 17 – Raq the Casbash for a unique Arabic/Middle Eastern and Pop World music tour

July 24 – Rockabilly/Americana of the Electric Troubadours

The event itself is conveniently scheduled during lunchtime hours, so people can attend the concert while on lunch break from work. This allows Wednesday lunch to be a special time in Toledo for those able to make it to the free musical event.

If you do not bring a brown bag lunch to the shows, there will be food vendors on site to sell various lunch items. The public library has requested the audience to be sure to purchase their lunches before the performances so as to not interrupt the performers. The Library Cafe will also be open during the event. It is located on the lower floor of the library.

The Brown Bag Summer Concert Series is a family-friendly event, with music and entertainment for everyone of every age. It’s an ideal chance to introduce a child or loved one to the pleasures of the variety of music available to listen to in the world.

With warm weather, sunshine, good food, and good company, Toledo will be a fun place to be for music and entertainment at the Brown Bag Summer Concert Series!
