Breaking Ground is an acoustic duo who mix original material with cover songs to create performances that are popular with a broad audience. The musical group began appearing every Tuesday evening at Sukit Hookah, 3354 Dorr Street, Toledo, from 9 pm until 12 am on June 4. Sukit Hookah is a cool smoking lounge where customers smoke out of a pipe called a hookah, provided by the venue for its clients.

If you haven’t been to a smoking lounge or used a hookah, this is sure to be a unique experience! Sukit Hookah has been open since 2010, and the hookah concept is catching on in other cities as well. Originating in India, the Eastern tradition is more of a social event where friends smoke flavored tobaccos together. There is a wide range of flavors, and each participant gets their own disposable mouthpiece for hygiene reasons. Combine this with fun music, and it’s sure to be a memorable evening!

The music you can expect to hear will be acoustic guitar-based, with vocals. Breaking Ground is known for doing cover versions of popular songs such as “Long Train Running” by the Doobie Brothers, alongside original material such as their own song “Running Away,” creating a juxtaposition of musical and lyrical ideas.

There is no cover charge for performances by Breaking Ground at Sukit Hookah, and audience members must be at least 18 years old to attend the shows due to local tobacco laws. Breaking Ground does appear at Sukit Hookah on a regular basis. However, it’s important to check the venue’s Website because the schedule of performers sometimes changes from week to week.

Shows by duo members Brad Yost and Danny Whitehead tend to be popular, so if you want to get a seat for one of their gigs, it’s important to arrive early.

One reason Breaking Ground is so popular at their Toledo shows at Sukit Hookah is that the duo is very passionate when they perform. They put a lot of effort into entertaining the crowd, and it has paid off for them, as they have a large and loyal local fan base.

And it has paid off for Sukit Hookah, who is able to offer its customers a night of popular music from a very well-liked duo with no cover charge. Of course, all musicians generously accept tips, which is a wonderful way to show appreciation for their talent and effort.

If you decide to see Breaking Ground at Sukit Hookah on an upcoming Tuesday, prepare yourself for a very entertaining, impassioned evening of music intertwined with a new smoking lounge experience.
