For those lucky enough to be in or near Toledo, there’s a funky and fun way to enjoy your Thursday evenings. Bring out the jazz lover hiding inside you and let it shine! The Jazz in the Garden Series is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for all age groups.

What It Is

Just as the name suggests, Jazz in the Garden Series is a series of jazz concerts that will be held on Thursday evenings. The entertainment began July 11 and continues every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the Jazz Lawn (in Toledo Botanical Garden), which is near Crosby Conference Center. The last concert in the series will be held on September 12.

Each week, audiences will relax to the sounds of a different local jazz musician or group. It’s a wonderful way to get to experience some cool sounds while enjoying the warm nights of summer.

Gathering for fun and music is a great time to socialize and relax. Part of what makes this type of entertainment so magical is the laid-back atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets, and other items to make the space more comfortable. Beer and wine is allowed. Why not pack a picnic meal and dine as you enjoy the concert? Food will be available for purchase at the Garden.

The Cost

This is affordable fun that gets you out of the house in a big way. Ticket prices are $6 for TBG Members, $7 for Students and Seniors over 60, and $8 for adults. Children 12 and under are free. Please note, tickets should be purchased at the gate.

For those interested, season passes to the Toledo Botanical Garden are also available; the prices are $48 for TBG Members, $56 for Students and Seniors, and $64 for Adults.

The Place

It’s not surprising that the Toledo Botanical Garden is the chosen place for hosting the Jazz series. This gorgeous 60-acre park is the ideal setting for walks, weddings, relaxation, photography, and of course, for enjoying the sounds of music. With so much space to offer, the garden is actually divided into 18 different gardens, each having its own theme or purpose.

When coming to the concerts, you may want to arrive a little early. This will allow time to explore the various garden spaces. You just might discover an area that you want to return to again and again!

With so much fun to be had, it’s an easy guess that many of the people you know will be in attendance at the Jazz in the Garden Series. The concerts will be a major topic of conversation at work on Fridays this summer, so you definitely want to be in on the action.
