Calen Savidge, Chris Shutters, to Headline Concert Benefiting Autism Society

DELTA, OHIO – The 4th Annual Rock for Autism concert, Friday, May 2, 2014, will feature many popular Toledo-area musicians including Calen Savidge and Chris Shutters (playing as Match City); the Rivets, Lee Warren, and more, all on stage together for the first time ever.

The show will start at 7 pm, at the Delta Auditorium, 605 Taylor Street, in Delta.
Doors open at 6 pm. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased online at www.pdys.org/rock-for-autism, from the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio, from Delta High School, or at the door.

One-hundred percent of the profits will go to the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio to help provide support, education, advocacy, and services to those affected by autism in 12 northwest Ohio counties.

Derek Friess, Pike-Delta-York Schools Technology Coordinator, says the specific charity was the students’ choice:

“Several years ago, when I took over as the advisor for student council we wanted to do an event in the spring to raise money for a charity so I went to the kids to see what they wanted,” Friess explains. “At the time we had a wonderful popular student with autism. He was Coming Home king, happy, and even popular and the kids got to thinking that they wanted a way to help with the other aspects of his life, and his family’s life. The Autism Society seemed to be exactly what they were looking for, a way to help local people, not only those with autism, but also the families. It has been well received ever since.”

Paddy Jack’s Bar and Grill in Sylvania Township has come up with a creative way to build the community’s enthusiasm for the concert and for the Autism Society. The restaurant will hold an “Autism Society Night,” Wednesday, April 23, at the W. Central Avenue location, between 7 and 11pm. Ten percent of profits from that time period will go the Autism Society.
