‘Lost arts’ demonstrations featured at Walker Tavern Farmers Market June 8

The Walker Tavern Farmers Market will feature “lost arts” demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8. Spring produce also will be available for purchase from area farmers at the Walker Tavern Historic Site near Brooklyn, Michigan.

“Our goal was to find new ways to enhance the farmers market during the 2014 season and to celebrate Walker Tavern Historic Site’s 40th anniversary as a museum within the Michigan Historical Center system,” said David Brainerd, Walker Tavern Farmers Market master. Demonstrations June 8 will include making socks on a hand-operated knitting machine, soap-making, stained glass-cutting and weaving on a triangle loom.

A Recreation Passport is now required for a vehicle to enter Cambridge Junction Historic State Park, the home of Walker Tavern.
