September is Library Card Sign-up Month at Way Library

One of the simplest ways to ensure a child’s academic success is by making a quick trip to the library. September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when Way Public Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that every student has the most import school supply of all – a free library card. Every parent wants their child to succeed, and a library card is a free ticket to academic achievement.

Resources at Way Public Library are available to anyone who has a library card. Students can turn to the library for materials, programs and services that support academic achievement. Programs such as History Hikers, Mad Scientist Club, Adventures in Science, art workshops, book clubs, and more are just a few of the ways Way Library engages with and encourages young learners. Computers and print services are readily available for use during regular library hours.

Students can use their library cards from home, too. Way Library offers access to important educational resources, like Ohio’s Know It Now 24×7 online Homework Help, the Ohio Web Library featuring research and readers’ advisory tools, Learning Express test prep and distance learning site, e-books, and Ask-A-Librarian, plus downloadable music and movies (coming soon!) for relaxation purposes.

“Our library welcomes all students and offers an atmosphere conducive to learning experiences such as exploring, discovering, and using information,” says Janel Haas, Director. “Students learn in a variety of ways, and thanks to the resources available at the library we can meet the needs of all ages and types of learners. Whether that is through homework help, stimulating programs, or access to print and e-books, the library has something for everyone – all with a free library card. It is for these reasons that a library card is the most important school supply of all. And we never run out of them!”

Registering for a library card is simple. Stop by Way Public Library (with photo identification and proof of current address) and complete an application. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18. Or visit waylibrary.info and complete an online application, then present proper identification upon your first library visit to use the card.
