Toledo Zoo's Senior Discovery Days Continue through October

Age has its benefits. This fall, Health Care REIT presents Senior Discovery Days at the Toledo Zoo, with Tuesday free admission and special events that let visitors age 60 and up see the Zoo in a whole new way.

Each Tuesday (October 7, 14, 21 and 28) brings a new Zoo adventure, from a free guided tour of the award-winning Aviary to big band music, bingo with a Zoo twist and a “sneak preview” of plans for the new Aquarium which is scheduled to reopen on March 27, 2015.

The fun isn’t limited to Tuesdays, though. Each weekday through October offers seniors free parking in the Anthony Wayne Trail lot, free fresh-brewed 8-oz. coffee and a mini-muffin in the Zoo’s North Star Trading Post® (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), seniors-only discounts and more.

For more information and a schedule of all the activities, visit the Zoo’s website at toledozoo.org/seniors.

While you’re at the Zoo, don’t miss the all-new Flamingo Key, Penguin Beach and ‘Keet Retreat. Flamingo Key shows off the “avian supermodels” back at the Zoo for the first time in decades. Near Primate Forest, Penguin Beach leads you right through the penguins’ exhibit. Just a couple minutes away near the Zoo’s Broadway entrance, ‘Keet Retreat offers a fun walk-through encounter with these bright, friendly little birds.

Visitor experiences like these are just some of the reasons the Toledo Zoo is rated the #1 zoo in the nation by USA Today Travel, and among the top ten family attractions nationwide by FamilyFun Magazine. More information is at toledozoo.org.
