Posted Sep 29th, 2014 by Rose Mills  Category: Arts & Entertainment

On Thursday, October 16th at 10:30 a.m., WGTE and Way Library will present two episodes of the “Toledo Stories” series – “Body by Fisher” and “Maumee at 175: Celebrating a Legacy”.
“Body by Fisher” recalls how the seven sons of a horse-drawn carriage maker in Norwalk, Ohio, created one of the world’s largest manufacturing companies. The Fisher coach logo on the doorsill of millions of autos and the slogan “Body by Fisher” was a legendary emblem of high-quality, innovative and reliable automotive design for most of the 20th century.
“Maumee at 175: Celebrating a Legacy” chronicles Maumee’s Native American and pioneer beginnings to the industrial manufacturing city of the 1900s. Once hailed as the future great city of the West, Maumee has a rich history and has helped shape our region and our nation. Maumee, like the river itself, has changed course and direction. Its abiding spirit of community and opportunity make it one of our region’s great assets. There will be an opportunity for discussion following the screening of the programs.
This program is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
