FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TOLEDO, OH- This month, Toledo School for the Arts made an important addition to their staff thanks to an AmeriCorps position courtesy LISC. Jim McGhee accepted the position of Diversity Coordinator- a staffing decision that Toledo School for the Arts has desired for some time.

“The demographics of our student body mirror the greater Toledo area, and it’s important to our mission that it stay that way,” explained Martin Porter, TSA Director. The charter school has maintained a Diversity Committee as a sub-committee under their Board of Directors, and Porter explained that this position takes that one step further. “Jim begins work in the midst of our enrollment season, focusing efforts to attract a diverse population of new students.”

In addition to Recruiting, McGhee will provide Enrollment Assistance and Community Outreach.

McGhee’s background in working with youth served him well, as he was strongly recommended by a panel of TSA students who conducted interviews for the position. Those interviewing students have been asked to continue to serve on a Diversity Outreach Student Panel.

Formerly, McGhee has taught at both the middle and high school levels and also served as a school administrator. His most recent work with teens has been with the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo- serving in summers to coordinate the Young Artists at Work program.

Potential new students and current families are encouraged to contact McGhee with ideas or concerns at 419-246-8732×228. TSA is excited to add this meaningful position to their staff, and believe McGhee’s philosophies on Diversity and his extensive background will serve our community well.
