UT presents two holiday concert events in December

The University of Toledo College of Communication and the Arts is presenting two great holiday concert events this season, the Department of Music’s annual UTJazz Holiday Concert and new this year, Ha-Ha-Holidays, a collaborative music and theatrical event presented by the Departments of Music and Theatre & Film.

All of the UTJazz ensembles come home for its annual holiday concert. This popular, rollicking big band treat will be held Thursday, December 11 at 7 p.m. in Doermann Theatre on UT’s main campus. Special guest jazz vocalists JON HENDRICKS and KIM BUEHLER will perform on the concert, which also features the UT Jazz faculty group, CrossCurrents, The UT Jazz Ensemble, Vocalstra, GuitArkestra, and the Latin Jazz Ensemble. The program will include holiday classics from the libraries of Stan Kenton, Duke Ellington and many more.

Patrons are invited to come a little early to have their photos taken with Santa. These free portraits will be taken in Doermann Theatre from 5:30 p.m. until 6:50 p.m. The photos will be sent via email after the concert.

TICKETS are $10 General Admission; $5 Students/Seniors 60+, and Children small enough to sit on a parent’s lap get in free. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Cash, checks, and major credit cards accepted. Processing fees apply on credit card orders.

The Ha-Ha-Holidays is lighthearted holiday event that is part music, part theatre and 100% great fun! To be held Sunday, December 14 at 3 p.m. in Doermann Theatre. Many UT Music ensembles, including opera and the UT Symphony Orchestra, will perform on a program that will include a range of hits from time honored seasonal classics to Broadway holiday show tunes. Plus the Theatre & Film Department is presenting live performances of scenes from Rudolph and The Year without a Santa Claus. Join us and bring the whole family. Children small enough to sit on mom or dad’s lap can get in free.

Those who arrive early will be treated to a pre-show sing-a-long as pianist Nathanael Leonard will be taking requests of holiday favorites.

FOR BOTH EVENTS
Both concerts take place in Doermann Theatre, located in University Hall, the building on Bancroft with the University’s signature clock tower. There will be golf cart shuttle service from the parking lots nearest University Hall where Doermann is located, Areas 13 & 1N. Parking is free. Wheelchair seating is available in Doermann. There is also drop-off area in front of the building at the street level, which is the same level as Doermann Theatre.
