Way Library’s classic film series, Reel Talk, continues with the film, “The Innocents.” This 1961 film is based on the novel, “The Turn of the Screw” by Henry James. Deborah Kerr plays an emotionally fragile governess who comes to suspect that there is something very wrong with her precious new charges.
The film also stars British actor Michael Redgrave, with a screenplay written by acclaimed novelist Truman Capote.
Way Library’s monthly book discussion is reading the Henry James novel for January to coincide with the film exhibition. Book club members will join the movie-going audience for the film, and a combined book and film discussion will take place after the screening.
Sig Humanski, retired Toledo City School literature and English teacher, will lead the discussion and take questions from the audience. The film will be shown Thursday, January 8 at 10:00 a.m. Admission and refreshments are free. The Reel Talk Classic Film Series is sponsored by Master Chemical.
