A presentation of the Lourdes University Lifelong Learning program.
Tour the grand homes of the early 20th century’s auto barons John F. Dodge and Edsel Ford. Meadow Brook Hall is one of the finest examples of Tudor-revival architecture in America and is especially renowned for its superb craftsmanship, architectural detailing and grand scale. The estate was built between 1926-29 at a cost of $4 million. Lunch at the estate is included. Then it is on to the Ford House to learn about the home life of a prominent American family. The Fords were cultural, social and economic leaders. The house was designed to resemble a cluster of Cotswold village cottages, complete with stone roofs, vine-covered walls and lead-paned windows. Strolling through the thoughtfully decorated halls, visitors come face-to-face with a stunningly diverse collection of art, antiques and furniture.
