To help celebrate the reopening of the Zoo’s historic Aquarium and to learn a little about fish colors, Lucas County elementary schools were invited to participate in a special coloring contest – and the Grand Prize winner of the 2015 Toledo Zoo Aquarium Coloring Contest is…Carly a second grader from Beverly Elementary!

Carly receives a one-year’s family membership to the Toledo Zoo, plus an all-school Zoo program with a large portable touch tank experience for her entire school, Beverly Elementary. Each of the Top 10 artists will receive a family four-pack of Toledo Zoo tickets for one day of the Aquarium’s opening weekend (March 27-29) plus an aquatic animal outreach program by the Zoo for the winner’s school.

Lucas County schools were invited to have their students (kindergarten through sixth grade) color a provided Toledo Zoo fish template and then choose one as the contest entry to represent their school. Each school’s submission is displayed in the Great Hall of the Zoo’s historic Museum of Science building. Winners were chosen by online voting at the Zoo’s Pinterest page and in-person during the Zoo’s Teddy Bear Care Fair.

All the semi-finalist student artists will receive Certificates of Accomplishment and their art work will continue to be displayed on special exhibit at our historic Museum of Science through April 5.

Congratulations to all of the student artists that participated, thank you for adding some color to your Zoo.
