On Thursday, September 17th at 10:30 a.m., WGTE and Way Library will present “The Cause, 1861”, the first episode in Ken Burns’ award-winning film “The Civil War”. “The Civil War” explores the most important conflict in our nation’s history. The war was fought in 10,000 places, more than 3 million Americans fought in it, and over 600,000 men – 2 percent of the population – died in it. What began as a bitter dispute over Union and States’ Rights ended as a struggle over the meaning of freedom in America. A discussion will follow the screening.

This program is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served
