On Friday, November 13, 2015, the Frogtown Storytelling Guild will celebrate its 15th year of Tellabration!—a spoken-word concert of “stories for grown-ups”—with special guest storyteller, Pam Holcomb. The Frogtown Storytelling Guild is pleased to welcome Ms. Holcomb for this special evening. The concert will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Maumee Indoor Theater, 601 Conant St, Maumee, OH 43537. Tickets are $10.00 each and available at the door. There will also be a raffle of a lovely handcrafted glass art piece, courtesy of the Toledo Museum of Art, and a give-away of storytelling games, courtesy of CheckMate Games and Hobbies.

Sandwiched between Pine Mountain and Black Mountain in the hills of southeastern Kentucky, Pam Holcomb was born. She was raised with a rich heritage of traditional mountain tales and music. Her humorous tales of mountain folklore, adventures, and family Appalachian stories has entertained and delighted audiences of all ages for more than 30 years.

Preserving the stories of the mountain folks for future generations is very important to Ms. Holcomb. With her unique dramatic flare, she brings life to stories from all facets of life.

She is a member of the Kentucky Association of Storytellers and the National Storytelling Network, and has participated in many storytelling festivals such as Poke Sallet (Harlan, KY), Swappin’ Meeting (Cumberland, KY), Festival of the Mt. Masters (Harlan, KY), and Ohio River Valley Folk Fest (Madison, IN). She is the recording artist of two storytelling CDs: This Side of Kingdom Come andKingdom Come and Back Again.

In 1988, the first Tellabration! concerts were performed at six locations in the state of Connecticut. J. G. Pinkerton, the originator of Tellabration!, envisioned the event as a way of fostering and maintaining the art of storytelling. It was a great success, and in the following year Tellabration! concerts soon spread to other states. In 1990, Tellabration! became a national event with the help of the National Storytelling Association. Its popularity continues to spread and now thousands of storytelling groups worldwide produce Tellabration! concerts.

The sponsors of Toledo’s Tellabration! 2015 are the Frogtown Storytelling Guild and CheckMate Games and Hobbies (6725 W. Central Ave., St. James Plaza, Toledo, OH 43617). “This year is very special since it is our 15th year of Tellabration!,” enthuses Glenda Garrison, Tellabration! 2015 producer. “We are so happy that Pam could join us for this milestone year. Tellabration! 2015 attendees are truly in for a treat.”

Sharing the spotlight with Ms. Holcomb are the talented members of the Frogtown Storytelling Guild, which consists of Marion Hallauer, Glenda Garrison, Tari Miller, Regina Patrick, Odessa Rowan, Ken Solo, and Ken Wielfaert. The stories of the Frogtown Storytelling Guild members span the oral tradition: folktales, wisdom tales, legends, romantic sagas, humorous accounts, and personal narratives that explore the richness of the human condition.
