Library Awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded again to the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The Library has been honored to receive this recognition since 1994.

Library officials received the award recently for the system’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2014. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to an official media release by the GFOA.

According to the GFOA, reports submitted to the CAFR program are reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and the GFOA Special Review Committee, which comprises individuals with expertise in public sector financial reporting and includes financial statement preparers, independent auditors, academics, and other finance professionals.
The GFOA, founded in 1906, represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada.
