Older Adults to Receive the Gifts of Each Other’s Presence and Meal on Christmas

For many older adults, especially those who recently lost a loved one, the holidays can be a lonely time. Instead of being alone while others are opening up gifts, many older adults will be making their presence their present to other older adults. On Christmas, older adults will be enjoying a free holiday meal in the company of others age 60 and over thanks to the Margaret Hunt Senior Center and the Area Office on Aging. Media coverage is welcomed and encouraged.

The meal is being served at 11:30 a.m. Christmas Day at the Margaret Hunt Senior Center, 2121 Garden Lake Parkway, Toledo, Ohio 43614.

To save a seat at the table for this holiday meal, older adults can call 419-385-2532. A suggested donation of $2.50 helps make meals available for those who are not able to make a donation.

The meal will be served by Area Office on Aging Director of Nutrition and Wellness, Dr. Rebecca Liebes, and other community volunteers.

The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio (AOoA) helps older adults and their family caregivers live long, quality, independent lives in its 10 county service area. The Area Office on Aging provides programs and services that help younger and more active older adults remain healthy, active and vibrant for as long as possible, programs and services that help frail older adults remain as independent as possible as well as services and programs for everyone in between.
