Event to feature newest models and latest in automotive technology

TOLEDO, OH (January 14, 2016). The Toledo Automobile Dealers Association brings new vehicles and the latest interactive technologies to consumers and car enthusiasts at the 2016 Greater Toledo Auto Show (Toledoautoshow.org). The annual event, sponsored by The Blade, will feature the newest models from 26 different manufacturers, two exciting ride & drive experiences, and a chance to win a two-year lease on a 2016 Chevy Cruze. The show will run from Thursday, January 28 through Sunday, January 31 at the SeaGate Convention Centre.

2015 was a banner year for the U.S. auto industry. Automakers sold more than 17.4 million vehicles, surpassing the previous record set in 2000. “The U.S. auto industry saw record sales in 2015, especially in trucks and SUVs,” said Marie Gilman, Toledo Auto Show Manager. “Purchases of crossovers rose 19 percent in 2014 and 13 percent in 2015, an impressive comeback from the recession six years ago. We are excited to present the new lineup of 2016 vehicles, which offer consumers superior safety and outstanding technological features at affordable prices.”

The automotive industry continues to play a vital role in Ohio’s economy. With 26 dealerships located in Lucas County, the annual auto show provides an opportunity to celebrate Toledo’s proud automotive history, and support the contributions that local dealers make to the communities in the region.

This year’s show features several new attractions. For the first time, both Toyota and FCA will give attendees the opportunity to get behind the wheel of their newest models. At the Toyota Drive Center, show-goers can take a spin in their choice of a Camry, Highlander, the new 2016 Rav4 or the redesigned 2016 Tacoma. The Fiat-Chrysler Ride & Drive Experience will feature test drives in the latest vehicles from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, and FIAT.

A featured giveaway sponsored by the Northwest Ohio Chevy Dealers is new to this year’s show as well. The grand prize is a two-year lease on a 2016 Chevy Cruze LT. The Cruze features an all-new 1.4L turbo engine, fuel efficiency, smart phone integration, advanced safety features and OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot. Entries are now being accepted at all 17 Northwest Ohio Chevy dealerships through January 26th and will also be accepted at the show. The winner will be drawn at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31 at the auto show.

Traditionally, the show offers plenty of family entertainment and this year is no exception. Visits from the Toledo Zoo animals, Muddy and Muddonna of the Toledo Mud Hens, and Matt the Balloon Guy are all on tap. Interactive exhibits and special activities make the Greater Toledo Auto Show an event the whole family will enjoy.

Tickets are $7 at the box office and $5 online, with children nine and under admitted free with a paid adult. Tickets for students with appropriate IDs are $5 per person, and seniors will receive $5 admission all day on Friday.
