12th Annual Research & Scholarship Symposium Scheduled

Lourdes University is pleased to host the 12th annual Research & Scholarship Symposium on Monday, April 25 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd., in Sylvania. The event is free and open to the public.

The annual symposium highlights research and scholarly work conducted by undergraduate and graduate Lourdes University students through poster sessions and formal presentations. Diverse research topics across many disciplines are presented each year.

In 2015, more than 60 posters and presentations were given at the symposium. Keynote Speaker for the 2016 symposium is Dr. Keith Burwell, President of the Toledo Community Foundation. Dr. Burwell will speak shortly after 4 p.m. The Research & Scholarship Symposium is organized by the Student Research & Scholarship (SRS) Committee. Co-Chairs of the CRS Committee areThomas J. Estrella, M.S., Associate Professor of Psychology; and James J. Minesky, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Biology & Health Sciences.

Rooted in the Catholic Franciscan tradition, Lourdes University is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis, and offers baccalaureate degrees in a variety of academic majors as well as graduate degrees in business, education, nursing, organizational leadership, social work, and theology. Community outreach programs include the Appold Planetarium, the Center for Science Education & the Environment, and Lifelong Learning.
