Lutheran Homes Society (LHS) announces the appointment of Katie Zawisza as Executive Director for LHS Family & Youth Services, which has many residential locations throughout northwest Ohio and serves youth from Ohio and surrounding states.

As Executive Director, Mrs. Zawisza will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, community outreach, and business development of the Family & Youth Services ministry. It provides a wide range of services for children, adolescents, and adults. Key programs include:
• residential treatment for at-risk children and adolescents in need of intensive therapeutic programming;
• the Partners in Treatment program for preserving family relationships;
• outpatient mental health and psychiatric services for community members;
• in-home service provision for adults with disabilities that builds independent living, vocational, and behavior management skills; and
• educational services in coordination with Liberty Center and Oregon City schools.

Mrs. Zawisza has worked for Family & Youth Services in numerous capacities over the past 18 years. She began as a residential child care worker in 1998 and then served as a therapist for several years, before being promoted to Clinical Director in 2013. She has also been actively involved in the Partners in Treatment program for the past 17 years.

“Our search for a new Executive Director was very extensive, and I’m thrilled that we found the best candidate within the LHS family,” stated Rick Marshall, LHS President/CEO. “Katie brings a wealth of experience and a passion for youth services to the Executive Director position.”

Mrs. Zawisza is a licensed clinical counselor in Ohio with a supervisory endorsement. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Toledo, where she also earned a master’s degree in community counseling in 2003. She is a member of the Ohio Association of Child & Youth Care Professionals, Inc.

“I appreciate this opportunity and am looking forward to beginning my new role here at LHS,” stated Mrs. Zawisza, who resides in Toledo with her husband and three children. “I am so proud to be a part of this amazing agency that does so much for so many people.”
