Mary Smith Named Mid-America Director

Mary F. Smith, CEO of bonding company Smith Bonds and Surety, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio was elected the Mid-America Director for the Professional Bail Agents of United States (PBUS) at their meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Smith will cover Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Kentucky.

Smith Bonds & Surety is a bonding and bail bond agency with offices in Toledo, Cleveland and Kalamazoo, MI among others. Smith Bonds specializes in all court ordered bonds including bail, guardianship, contractor, probate, performance, ERISA, bid, fidelity insurance, fiduciary insurance, Public Official, and any other type of bond service. Smith Bonds and Surety also pride themselves as an insurance education provider/educator for the States of Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan.

Smith, holds a degree in Paralegal studies from Ashworth College and licenses in Ohio Surety Bail, Property & Casualty, Health & Life, Variable Annuities, and a nonresident bail license in Michigan. Smith is an authorized educator for the pre-licensing and continuing education programs for all lines of insurance. In 2005 she was hired to train the Ohio Department of Insurance on regulation.

Smith is the author of a very successful handbook that is in use by Judges and clerks today. Smith has worked tirelessly at preserving the industry through speeches to judges and clerk of courts associations, teaching CLE’s in bail, as well as maintaining her role as the Secretary of the OBAA (Ohio Bail Agents Association).

The mission of the Professional Bail Agents of the United States is to provide Information, Education and Representation for the 15,000 bail agents nationwide. Smith Bonds and Surety has over 50 agents in Ohio and Michigan, and is also registered in Indiana, Pennsylvania and soon in West Virginia.
