Written by Stephen Dolginoff and directed by Elizabeth Cottle, “Monster Makers” tells the stories of three individual attempts to bring iconic monsters to life in the cinema. Director F.W. Murnau in 1920s Germany is threatened by a lawsuit brought by the Bram Stoker estate over his silent vampire film Nosferatu, which dubiously parallels Dracula. Jack Pierce, Hollywood make-up designer, tries to create the most horrifying look for Frankenstein in 1930s, while meeting resistance from the director on artistic vision. Actor Peter Cushing in 1970s Englandworks to complete the Bristish sequels to Dracula and Frankenstein against the threat of loss of studio support. Will art prevail or will these men discover that real life is more frightening than the movies?
