Lourdes University hosts Catholic-Muslim Dialogue

Lourdes University is pleased to host the Catholic-Muslim Dialogue: Mary ????: Her Role in the Koran and the Gospels on Thursday, September 21 at 7 p.m. at the Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd., in Sylvania. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Designed to foster mutual knowledge and understanding, panel speakers are Sister Shannon Schrein, OSF, representing Catholic thought and Dr. Fatima Al-Hayani representing Islamic thought. Najwa Badawi, Board Member of the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo and a former ESOL Instructor for Owens Community College, will serve as the moderator.

Co-sponsors of the Catholic-Muslim Dialogue are the Office of Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations of the Catholic Diocese of Toledo, Lourdes University Campus Ministry, Sylvania Franciscan Village, The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, The University of Toledo (UT) Muslim Student Association, Corpus Christi University Parish, and the Multi Faith Council of Northwest Ohio.

At 6:15 p.m. that day, individuals are invited to attend the re-dedication of the Sisters of St. Francis Peace Pole in its new location on the west side of the Lourdes University dining hall – located near the Franciscan Center.
