TOLEDO, Ohio— The Toledo Zoo is pleased to be collaborating with the city of Perrysburg to microchip chickens currently residing within city limits. Toledo Zoo veterinarians will be available on September 30 and October 2 from 9 a.m. to noon (each day) at the building behind Perrysburg’s Municipal Building to implant the microchips. Before the implanting procedure, vets will perform a short health examination on each hen to help eliminate the spread of avian diseases. The entire process is minimally invasive and takes approximately 5 minutes per bird.
Please note: microchipping is for residents with an approved application.
