Described as the “church with a heart in the heart of Toledo”, the HeART Gallery in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, downtown Toledo, will host a traveling exhibit “SACRED THREADS” October 19-21.

The juried exhibit of 40 fiber art pieces is a gathering of wall quilts exploring themes of spirituality, joy, inspiration, peace, grief and healing. This biennial exhibition was established to provide a venue for quilters who see their work as a connection to the sacred or as an expression of their spiritual journey. Just as important as the artwork
are the artist’s statements, explaining the very personal stories behind each quilt. These are displayed next to their works.

The opening of the exhibit coincides with the Toledo Art Loop third Thursday event. There is free parking at St. Pauls Church, 428 North Erie Street. Parking is also available at the Toledo-Lucas County parking garage (enter off Adams Street). Art Loop staff and volunteers are at the library Art Loop Info Table to help plan your visit, where you can also board a Loop bus to explore Toledo’s art scene downtown. All participants receive an Art Loop goodie bag which can be used to collect treats throughout the night.

The SACRED THREADS exhibit is open October 19-20 from 4-9pm and Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10am-2pm. Additionally, a special “Lunch and Learn” event will be held from 12:15-1:15pm on Thursday, Oct 19. Homemade soup and bread will be served and guests will have the opportunity to see the exhibit and learn more about the artists behind each piece. Reservations for lunch can be made through the church office 419.243.4214. HeART Gallery is handicap accessible.
