The Force will be with Toledo’s most famous restaurant when official Star Wars artist and Toledo native Brian Rood signs a hot dog bun and meets his fans at an upcoming event.

The Original Tony Packo’s® at 1902 Front St. will welcome Rood on Tuesday, December 19th from 6-7pm. The appearance comes hot on the heels of the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15th, the new film for which the artist has produced artwork used in special prints and books. Rood will also bring items for sale and autographing that feature his Star Wars work, as well as show off some of his original paintings. Brian Rood’s photo-realistic paintings have thrilled people across the globe. He’s produced artwork for a multitude of companies, including Lucasfilm, Disney, Marvel Comics, and Paramount Pictures, and for such famous properties as Star Wars, Star Trek, The Walking Dead, Indiana Jones, and Transformers. His projects span the gamut of pop culture favorites, such as books, magazines, toy packaging, lithographs, trading cards, and comics, and can be seen at www.brianrood.com.

The event caps off an entire year of Packo’s celebration of their eight-fifth anniversary and the gathering of several local celebrity-signed buns for their collection. Recent signers include actress Katie Holmes, Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson, University of Toledo President Susan Gaber, Mud Hens president and General Manager Joe Napoli, Dana President and CEO James Kamsickas, ProMedica President and CEO Randy Oostra, professional football quarterbacks Bruce Gradkowski and DeShone Kizer, and TPS superintendent Dr. Romules Durant.

Tony Packo’s opened in 1932 and currently operates five locations in the Greater Toledo area, the newest in Maumee on Conant in front of Meijer. Actor Burt Reynolds was the first celebrity to sign a bun for the restaurant in 1972.
