Lourdes U announces ProMedica Scholarship recipients

(SYLVANIA, OHIO, USA) – Dawn AuBuchon, MS, CRNA, Director of the Lourdes University Master of Science in Nursing Nurse Anesthesia Program (MSN:NAP), is pleased to announce the students who were selected to receive the ProMedica Flower Hospital/McKesson Fund Scholarship. All six graduate students are currently enrolled in the Nurse Anesthesia Program and will receive a $3,000 scholarship.

In August 2011, ProMedica Flower Hospital through its McKesson Memorial Fund, donated $1 million over a 10-year period to the Lourdes MSN:NAP. Approximately 80 percent of the funding is utilized for students enrolled in the program who demonstrate financial need and academic merit. Lourdes University has invested the remainder of the funding in continuing education in the field of anesthesia, staff development, direct support for the training program and the creation of a lecture series.

The ProMedica Hospital/McKesson Fund Scholarship recipients are:

· Fowlerville, MI resident Elizabeth Charron

· Toledo, OH resident Henock Girma

· Harrow, Ontario, Canada resident Lauren Laverock-Sauve

· Petersburg, MI resident Kayla Spotts

· Plymouth, MI resident David Wilcox

· Flint, MI resident Shekira Williams

The Lourdes University Master of Science in Nursing: Nurse Anesthesia Program and Graduate Nurse Anesthesia Certificate are fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs through fall 2026.

Graduates of the MSN:NAP are prepared to fulfill the requirements to sit for the National Certification Examination (NCE). The MSN:NAP program has a 100% employment rate in the field within 6 months of graduation.
