2nd Annual NCSW Celebration Planned

Lourdes University, Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, and Sylvania Franciscan Village plan weeklong celebration of National Catholic Sisters Week

National Catholic Sisters Week (NCSW) takes place each year from March 8-14. During that week, women religious are honored through various events that instruct, enlighten and bring greater focus to the lives of these incredible women who have done so much for communities across the nation.

In Sylvania, Ohio, students and employees will celebrate the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania. The events are offered through their ministries – Lourdes University, Sylvania Franciscan Ministries, and the Sylvania Franciscan Village. Events include:

Traveling Sisters 2018

During Lourdes University’s Spring Break (March 3 – 11), four Gray Wolves athletic teams and the Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge team are traveling with a Sister in Flat Stanley style. Six Traveling Sisters are looking forward to their alter egos trekking the U.S. Throughout the week, the teams will provide #NCSW2018 social media posts with their Sister.

Recognition Celebration in Rosary Care Center
Thursday, March 8
11:30 a.m.

The Sisters of St. Francis are the special guests for cake and ice cream at the National Catholic Sisters Week Kick-Off. Each Sister in attendance will receive a carnation in honor of her many years of service to others.

Take a Sister to Lunch Day in the Lourdes Cafeteria
Tuesday, March 13
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Sisters of St. Francis and Sylvania Franciscan Village employees and Lourdes University faculty, staff and students are treating 78 Franciscan Sisters to lunch! Each Sister will be escorted to lunch in the Lourdes Cafeteria by a student or employee. The Sister and her “escort” will enjoy a full buffet menu including drinks and dessert.

Oral Histories

During National Catholic Sisters Week, oral histories of selected Sisters of St. Francis will be shared at https://sistersosf.org/sisters-of-st-francis-blog/. The oral histories are provided by Lourdes University students.
