Toledo, OH – Partners in Education, an organization dedicated to enhancing student success through community engagement, is proud to announce a partnership with Family House Shelter, which provides homeless families in crisis with comprehensive housing and services. Throughout February and early March, Partners in Education will bring their All in for Kindergarten series to the residents of Family House, providing materials and resources that help prepare the children in these families for Kindergarten as they work through the personal challenges of being unhoused.

Residents of Family House Shelter will have access to the entire series of four classes, designed specifically for preschool through Kindergarten children and their parents. Upcoming classes are as follows:

· ABC, 123…Come Explore with Me – March 7, 2018

The series is presented by Partners in Education in conjunction with the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, the Dental Center of Northwest Ohio, YWCA, and Metroparks of the Toledo Area, and is sponsored through a grant from the Anderson Foundation through Toledo Community Foundation.

“Family House is the only shelter in Ohio where entire families can come receive housing and services. When their Executive Director Renee Palacios reached out to us to help families there better understand the value of preschool, we saw this as an excellent opportunity to prepare young people for success in Kindergarten and beyond,” says Executive Director of Partners in Education, Michelle Klinger.

This is the third year of Toledo’s Parent University, a program of Partners in Education sponsored by Toledo Public Schools, to engage parents, caregivers and families through learning opportunities that help children and families succeed. These free workshops are open to all parents and care-givers of preschoolers and Kindergarten students in the Toledo area.

Partners in Education of Toledo (Partners) is a local nonprofit founded in 1994 by the Rotary Club of Toledo to enhance student success through community engagement. Partners connects businesses, nonprofit organizations, faith communities and institutions of higher learning to facilitate collaborations that support student success in Toledo area K-12 schools.
