March 19, 2018 Berkey, Ohio – Join the Oak Openings Green Ribbon Initiative (GRI) and its partners to welcome acclaimed wildlife tracker Susan Morse. Susan has been tracking wildlife since 1977 and is coming to the Oak Openings region May 17-20, 2018 to share her wisdom. She is the founder of Keeping Track® (www.keepingtrack.org), an organization devoted to training people from all walks of life to detect, record and monitor the status of wildlife and habitat in their communities. When not in the field conducting research, leading training programs or photographing wildlife, Susan can often be found presenting her findings and images to a wide range of audiences.

On Thursday, May 17th at Bedford High School, Temperance, MI, Ms. Morse will present her award-winning photography and fascinating anecdotes from her 40 years of wildlife tracking. She will talk about the habits and habitat of a variety of local species, how to identify their most telling signs in the field, the role that these animals play in the local ecology, and the challenges they face in the 21st century.

For those of you that prefer the hand-on experience, Ms. Morse will hold two, day-long workshops on Friday, May 18th (Ohio) and Saturday, May 19th (Michigan) exploring local animal behavior in the Oak Openings Region. Open to all ages, participants will be equipped with the skills to detect, identify, and interpret tracks and signs of local Oak Openings species and will learn to read the landscape with a new set of eyes.
