Protect & Preserve Our Pollinators-Earth Day Weekend Fun!

All activities are FREE. We will be collecting donations, cash or checks (payable to Metroparks Toledo) to assist in projects across the Oak Openings Region and throughout the Toledo Metroparks area. Thank you in advance for your support!

The Butterfly House – wheelerfarms.com:

Mary will be handing out information in regards to the Butterfly House as well as FREE passes. Even though the Butterfly House will not be open, attendees will be allowed to walk the beautiful grounds if the weather permits.

Toledo Naturalists’ Association and Wild Ones – toledonaturalists.org, wildones.org and oakopenings.wildones.org:

Jan Dixon will be sharing information about native butterflies and how to conserve them through butterfly gardening. She will provide a checklist of native butterfly species and a checklist of plants needed for a butterfly garden. It’s an engaging activity for adults and children to do together.

Jessica Wilbarger will help you learn to attract pollinators and feed your soil with a free packet of buckwheat cover crop OR you can make a home for a valuable local pollinator by building a mason bee house to hang in your yard! She will also have information on upcoming plant sales, rain barrels and composting.

Green Ribbon Initiative – oakopenings.org:

Sara DeMaria will be sharing opportunities for people to improve the native Oak Openings habitat right in their backyards through the Green Ribbon Initiative’s Landowner Registry program. She will have free copies of their guide, “Living in the Oak Openings”, as well as information about Blue Week – a week-long series of fun, family-friendly events all across the Oak Openings Region.

Jewels Daughtery – Nature & Forest Therapy – NatureandForestTherapy.org and

Jewels will be showing everyone how they can cultivate a relationship with themselves and the more than human world by providing forest bathing invitations, giving them nature connections practices and a $5 discount on all my upcoming forest bathing walks and events.

Lindsey Melden – Barefoot Books – barefootlindsey.com:

Lindsey will be offering a free story time/sing along from 2:30-3:00pm about pollinators!

This Earth Day take time to make a difference! Join Bee Free Yoga and its partners to stretch your body and your mind as you learn about ways you can protect and preserve the many pollinators of the Oak Openings Region. Sheila Watson, owner of Bee Free Yoga, will lead two yoga classes and pro-pollinator groups from across the region will be present to share information and activities!

Bring your family, your friends, or simply treat yourself!

Kids (family) yoga 1:30-2:15pm

Adult yoga 4-5pm
