Toledo, OH, (June 19, 2018) FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Local grassroots student movement, SASS- Student Advocates for Safe Schools, hosts free community picnic event at Wildwood Metropark. The student-organized event will feature free food, games, and fun as well as provide a means for community connection to unite and promote safe schools and gun reform. Voter registration is available.

SASS was formed in the aftermath of the Parkland school shooting in February of 2018 and includes about 170 members. The students remain motivated and dedicated to their mission even throughout the summer. The students wanted to provide an opportunity to stay connected throughout the summer and connect with and encourage students from other schools to get involved in the growing movement to promote change and safe schools in their communities and the community picnic is a fun way to connect.
