The Lourdes University Lifelong Learning program presents its Fall Kickoff – “Arrrrghhhhh: A History of Piracy on the Great Lakes” at 11 a.m. with Christopher Gillcrist, Executive Director of the National Museum of the Great Lakes. Mr. Gillcrist will lead individuals on a historical and cultural re-examination of piracy and its implications for understanding Great Lakes history. No parrots or peg legs, but a healthy dose of thievery, mutiny and other unsavory tales that illustrate why Hollywood should reinvent Jack Sparrow and place him on Lake Michigan in 1880!

A lasagna lunch with garlic bread, salad and dessert is offered following the lecture. A vegetarian option is also available. After lunch, the Cake Walkin’ Jass Band will perform the authentic New Orleans jazz Toledoans have been enjoying for 50 years. $12 per person for lunch. Reservations are requested by August 13.
