Toledo Federation of Art Societies presents free Open House on July 28
TFAS100 Mid-Summer Evening “DO” at 20 North Gallery in downtown Toledo

Toledo, OH—July 20, 2018. As a member group of the Toledo Federation of Art Societies (TFAS), 20 North Gallery will proudly host the TFAS100 Mid-Summer Evening “DO,” member meeting and free public open house on July 28, from 7 – 9 p.m.

Now celebrating its 101st year, TFAS is a non-profit community arts service organization comprised of 19 local and regional independent artists and 22 Toledo-area arts organizations, including The Arts Commission; Toledo School for the Arts; the art departments of The University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University; Lourdes University and Owens Community College; local independent galleries and studios; as well as the original founding groups: Toledo Museum of Art, Athena Art Society and the Tile Club of Toledo.

Semi-annual social meetings are part of the networking service that TFAS provides its members and the public. A business meeting will be held for members at 6 p.m., detailing TFAS’ new community project and plans for the upcoming year. The brief business meeting is open to the public and potential new members but, in the interest of time, there will be no open forum.

20 North Gallery and the members of TFAS will be welcoming friends and fellow creatives at the free Public Meet & Greet on Saturday, July 28, from 7 – 9 p.m. The open house reception will offer a free appetizer buffet and cash bar by Venue. Reservations for the event are not required, but appreciated (419-241-2400 or info@20northgallery.com).

The event will feature an interactive arts game, “Ekphrastic Mad Libs,” as an ice breaker activity. 20 North Gallery art director Condessa Croninger describes the ice breaker as a “fun and whimsical way to engage open house attendees with our current exhibition, ARToledo 2018: Chrysalis, and the artwork in our stable representation. By combining the visual and literary arts, we are embracing TFAS’ new multidisciplinary focus—and by randomly combining the input of our artistic guests, we’re sure that the formal aspect of ekphrastic (or art-based) writing will be completely upended to hilarious results. A perfect ‘non-serious’ art activity for a relaxed summer evening.”
