iGen. iSad? Saturday seminar for parents

Posted Aug 31st, 2018 by Peter Hagen  Category: Events

A Saturday workshop for interested parents, on the topic of tweens, technology, & mental health. Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the specific issues that Gen Z faces, as well as practical strategies for managing the challenges while raising resilient children.

WHEN: October 13 from 10am – 1:30pm

WHERE: Resurrection Lutheran Church
2250 South Holland Sylvania Road
Maumee, OH 43537

WHY:
Generation Z, also known as iGen, grew up on the smartphone.
According to the latest research, iGen – toddlers, tweens, teens, and early 20-somethings – are on the verge of the biggest mental health crisis in the history of the world. Parents today face complex challenges that previous generations never had: cyberbullying, blue light-induced insomnia, Snapchat, screen time in school and at home.

This free community workshop is intended to help. Kent A. Robinson, MA LPC will speak on the topic with a thorough knowledge of the issues at hand and practical advice for parents of toddlers, tweens, and teens.

Kent Robinson is a therapist for WLCFS (Wisconsin Lutheran Child & Family Services). You can read his bio here. Kent works with high school students and their families from all of our Wisconsin Lutheran (WELS) high schools across country. His office is located at Michigan Lutheran Seminary, a WELS high school in Saginaw, MI.

Lunch will be served. Registration is requested, with a cap of 175 registered. This is a totally free event, with the entire community invited. If there is enough interest, our speaker could return for a second presentation.
