Saturday, March 9
Sylvania Area Family Services hosts The Sylvania Uncorked Chocolate & Wine Affair from 7pm to 11pm. An evening of chocolate and food samplings from local vendors, the event includes a silent auction, mystery bags, dancing, photo booth and more. Open to the public. Cost is $50, open bar included. Sunday, March 10
The Sylvania Community Orchestra presents Treasures of Tchaikovsky, a collection of Tchaikovsky’s work, at 4pm. The event features award-winning pianist, Sara Daneshpour, who has played at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Great Hall of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Event is free and open to the public. The Sylvania Franciscan Village and Lifelong Learning present Criminal Justice Reform, featuring Ronnie L. Wingate, a criminal defense attorney, from 9:15am to 11:00am. Mr. Wingate, a graduate of UT Law School, received the 2017 Liberty and Justice Award from the Maumee Valley Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Free for members and first time visitors. The Sylvania Franciscan Village and Lifelong Learning present Caring for Our Community’s Children, featuring the work of the Lucas County Children Services, from 11am to 12pm. Come learn about all Lucas County Children Services does to support local families, and keep them safe. $10 for members; $15 for nonmembers. The Sylvania Franciscan Village and Lifelong Learning present My Big Fat Greek Wine Glass, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Explore this historic wine country and learn how wine has been woven into Greek culture for the last 6,000+ years! Instructor Nicholas Kubiak will have six versatile wines, representative of Greece. Lourdes University hosts a Suicide Awareness Conference, from 1pm to 3:30pm. The Bridge, a documentary of the Golden Gate Bridge, details dozens of suicide attempts which take place there each year.
